Citrus all-purpose cleaning solution is a wonderful chemical-free way to clean your home! Although vinegar and water is also very effective, it isn’t the most pleasant smell. Let me show you how to help vinegar based cleaner smell better as well as enhance its cleaning power!
Lemon infused vinegar is just that, lemons in vinegar. You can also use oranges, grapefruits, limes- you get the idea. Or combine them to make some unique scents!
This is a great way to reduce waste. Save your unused parts from your citrus fruits in a gallon sized plastic bag (or smaller if you will be infusing in a smaller jar) in the freezer. Once the bag is full, make some great-scented cleaner!

My mother-in-law works in a restaurant where they slice lemons fresh daily. Whenever I ask her, she will save me a bag of ends. Saves waste and makes my cleaning solution even cheaper. Win-Win!
I use this all over my home!
Citrus All-Purpose Cleaner
1 Gallon Pickle Jar (cleaned and rinsed out)
1 Gallon White Distilled Vinegar
Citrus Peelings, Ends, Etc.
Spray bottle (glass ones are preferred when using citrus/vinegar solutions)
*Note- you can make this in ANY size glass jar that you would like. Mason jars work great or even a rinsed out spaghetti sauce jar. Whatever you have in your recyclable bin!
Fill jar with citrus (don’t pack in).Pour in vinegar to the top of the jar.
Cover and let sit for 2 weeks.
Strain off all the citrus. Pour a 50/50 ratio of vinegar to water in a clean spray bottle and you are ready! The remaining vinegar solution can be stored for a long time! Bonus- if you have little ones that are curious (aren’t they all) and accidentally get into this cleaning solution- no worries! Completely non-toxic.
I hope this is helpful to you and for your family!
Thank you for stopping by the homestead!
Until next time,
Melissa
