These delicious Apple Pie Bars are perfect for a game day feast, potluck, or as dessert any night of the week!

Same familiar apple pie taste  but in an easier-to-grab bar form. Which of course, in my experience, is a double edged sword… so much easier to nibble on!

Are you one of those people who can eat a bar (or any dessert for that matter) and just leave it alone? I wish I was. I’m a “teeny slice here and there” type of person (thanks, Mom!) and before I know it, a row is missing! It’s pretty much the #1 reason I try and not make dessert too often- willpower… whats that?!

Needless to say, these didn’t stick around long. Even caught my husband, who loves his sweets but much better at refraining himself, sneaking small nibbles of these tasty bars! Of course the kids loved them too, especially still warm with a dollop of vanilla ice cream! Extra yum!

Course Dessert
Cuisine American

Ingredients

  • 2 Crust Pie Pastry
  • 5 cups apples cored, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2-1 tbsp milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Roll out half of pie dough to approximately 9x13 rectangle. Place in bottom of 9x13 pan, with at least 1 inch sides. Push dough up the sides if there is extra.
  • In large bowl, combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss to coat and spoon evenly over crust.
  • Roll remaining dough to approximately 9x13 rectangle. Place over apple pie filling, tucking edges in if needed. Mix cinnamon-sugar ingredients and evenly sprinkle over top.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
  • While bars are cooling, combine glaze ingredients; adding enough milk until it reaches a drizzling consistency- not too thin. When bars are warm, drizzle over pastry and finish cooling. Cut into squares.
